Excalibio contains carefully selected micro-organisms with an enhanced ability to compete for nutrients. They also have other, special properties. Studies have shown that they produce substances that hamper the growth of algae. They also degrade organic matter in the lake, producing intermediary substances that can, in the presence of sunlight, result in the production of hydrogen peroxide, which can itself suppress the growth of algae.
